How to make some extra $$$

Since most places of business are closed during this trying time, and I am currently not working, I did some research to find ways to make some extra money. Even though most people are “trying” to stay safe at home, I want to help others that may have a compromised immune system as well as have an underlying condition. I thought I would start using the instacart app and deliver groceries to peoples’ doors. I believe instacart is a fantastic service, especially right now for those who do not want to put themselves at risk. Instacart is an on-demand grocery delivery service that uses those interested in making some extra money. Instead of heading to the grocery store, you can use instacart and have your groceries delivered directly to your door. It allows you to add your favorite products to your grocery list, and set personal preferences, and even add notes to your order. This is truly a great tool for people to use during this coronavirus pandemic. I have noticed that people are using this app now more than ever, people will do whatever they can to make some extra cash. But keep in mind that it is extremely important to stay safe and be well!

How I prevent myself from going stir crazy

I do have to say that I am going crazy, as well as my friends and family. I think we all are getting so angry and fed up with each other because we have never had to be in such close quarters and proximity for so long at one time. Each day goes by and we all say more and more to each other that we regret. In order to keep busy, I read books, I binge watch PLENTY of shows on Netflix, Hulu, and HBO and I bake. I LOVE to bake, I have baked at least 10 batches of homemade chocolate chip cookies (which my mom is not happy about because she eats so many in one sitting). This is definitely a good time to eat and try cooking new meals. My family and I are also watching home videos from when we were all little, and have plenty of game and movie nights that we will definitely never forget. We complete puzzles every other day and go on family walks when the weather is nice which is so infrequent (which is unfortunate during this time). Lastly, to personally keep busy I have many zoom and houseparty sessions with my friends which make it feel like we are still at school enjoying the last few weeks of our senior year. This sad time is something that we will never forget, this will be history that we will be able to explain to our children. This is truly crazy and who would have ever thought that such a thing could ever happen.

Senator Bernie Sanders Drops Out of 2020 Democratic Race

On the 8th of April, 2020 Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont made the decision to end his campaign for the Democratic nomination. This decision came shortly after it was announced that several primary losses for Sanders had paved a clear path for Biden to achieve the Democratic Nomination. Sanders announced from isolation through a live stream video that he could not persuade himself to continue battling for the nomination when it was so clear that the people had chosen his rival Joe Biden to take on current president Donald Trump. Bernie also stressed the fact that by him staying in the race, it would only make it harder for the Democratic Party to beat Trump in November, especially amid the Covid-19 pandemic. The senator is now asking all of his followers to pledge their allegiance to Joe Biden in an attempt to retake the White House in 2021 . Sanders promised that although this would be the end of his campaign, it would not be the end of his socialist oriented movement that so many Americans had grown to appreciate and love.

Zoom Backlash

There have been several news stories saying that Zoom accounts are getting hacked. With all of the backlash Zoom is getting, CEO Yuan took it into his own hands and created a 90-day plan to focus on privacy rather than its flashy new features. Yuan was transparent about the companies issues and is taking commendable efforts to address them. Zoom has always been used as an enterprise platform, meaning a service for businesses to use not for personal users trying to video chat friends or family members. Therefore, this service was not designed with personal privacy top of mind. Yuan does understand however, that Zoom must reevaluate its priorities to meet the publics standards during this health crisis. It truly was amazing how transparent Yuan really was; he was extremely candid about the issues at hand and wanted to do everything he could to fix the problem. Although he was a bit defensive, he tried to cover up the story by saying Zoom is a platform strictly for businesses. Hopefully we will start to see a change with Zoom and that the efforts they are taking to make it a safer platform will in turn leave positive results.

Toilet Paper Shortage

Who would have ever though that we would have a toilet paper shortage in the year 2020? No one seems to understand why there is still a lack of toilet paper on store shelves. According to USA Today, people have been selfishly hoarding the highly desired product. Experts have been saying that the lack of toilet paper at stores was caused by a shift in demand for the products’ use at home. Due to so many people being stuck in their homes, a greater amount of toilet paper is needed for most families. What people don’t understand is that different types of toilet paper are used in the workplace vs. at home which is what is causing the demand to increase. Many stores tried limiting 2 paper products per customer, but this strategy does not seem to be helping. I think if we all just take a step back and stay in our homes everything would slowly start to go back to normal. SOCIAL DISTANCING MATTERS!

Movie Review – Scene Analysis

The suicide scene in “A star is Born” was an emotional one, we watch Jack exit his car, hardly able to walk, as he appeared to have been drinking or taken some type of drug. He silently breaks the viewers’ hearts. Jack slowly walks into his garage, holding a belt, he locates a cabinet to stand on and walks back to open the garage door. His face is shown, filled with emotion, and we can infer that he is trying to end his life. You can really tell the amount of pain Jack truly is experiencing, as the camera zooms in and stays on his face for quite some time. Down comes the garage door and the camera cuts to a performance where Ally, his wife, is singing the line, “Why did you do that?” Ally even shouts Jack out during her performance of the song Shallow. The scene cuts back to the garage where the dog is sitting forlornly outside the closed door waiting for his owner. These last few minutes of this scene are an extraordinarily graphic depiction of suicide, as we see flashing red and blue lights which leave the viewer to believe are first responders. The difference between the two scenes are quite dramatic. The arena where Ally is performing presents an upbeat electric feel, in contrast to the garage scene which depicts darkness and has an ominous feel.

“A Star is Born” – Movie Review

“A Star is Born” was an incredible movie to watch, it looked at important issues such as substance abuse, suicide, and fame. We are all overly familiar with the many themes portrayed in the movie and get to witness the harsh reality of the music industry. It was a classical romantic film, filled with both heart-warming and heart-breaking emotions. Lady Gaga (Ally) and Bradley Cooper (Jack) delivered strong emotions in all scenes and throughout their performances. Both Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s vocals were incredible, and the lyrics of the many songs they wrote for the film were so beautifully written. The songs talked about the relationship between Jack and Ally, and their journeys both together and separately. Regardless of the films excellent cinematography and a soundtrack which promotes the storyline; the sadness and the words left unsaid make the viewer think about what could have been. Jack embodies the addict we have all seen before and somehow lets his alcoholism takeover his love for Ally. Lady Gaga did an outstanding job acting, especially considering the fact that this was her first time playing a lead role in a movie. Ally’s profound sadness engulfs her but she realizes that she must move on. As a tribute to Jack, she performs the song that he wrote for her prior to his death. Although, her role as Ally did not dig deep enough into her character. There was so much more potential to emphasize her insecurities besides her “big nose.” The progression of her fame and confidence should have been discussed more but instead the film focused on the ominous aspects. While Ally portrays a strong female, she desperately needs more depth for the storyline to receive recognition from the modern audience. Despite these minor flaws, it is for sure a worthwhile watch and a step in the right direction to discovering the art of cinema. A Star is Born is truly a dreamy downright exhilarating film that leaves viewers with a timeless good impression, it’s just magical to watch. It is one of those films that you can watch over and over again.

Coronavirus Pandemic

It saddens me that my senior year has abruptly come to an end due to this horrifying pandemic. Everything that I have worked so very hard for I feel as though was for nothing. It is truly disheartening that I will not be able to attend my commencement ceremony. Graduation is something not only the graduate gets to look forward to but family and friends get to be apart of and enjoy as well. This has made me uncertain about my future and I get really scared to think about what the future may hold. According to several news outlets these next two weeks are going to be the hardest and saddest week for most Americans. Experts are now predicting a surge in deaths from COVID-19. I find it sickening that the death toll has surpassed that of Pearl Harbor and 9/11. “This is going to be our Pearl Harbor moment and our 9/11 moment only it’s not going to be localized, it’s going to be happening all over the country” said Adams. It amazes me how the US has had the most deaths so far with at least 312,000 confirmed cases and over 8,000 deaths. I hope to see this virus come to an end sooner rather than later so we can all go back to living our normal lives.

Narrative – Random Dialog Post

“He was unconscious when I found him, what do we do?” “Should we take him to the hospital…..?” “We can’t let them know that we know where he is”. “I wonder who did this to him”. “We may never find out… all of these cuts and bruises they are bad, it looks like someone really hurt him”. “We have no choice but to call 911, and if we both stick to the same story they can’t prove anything”. *Calls 911*… waits for the cops to arrive. “Wait there is a car up ahead should we see if anyone is inside?” They go and check the car to see if anyone is inside only to realize it looks like he crashed his car. “Do you think he crashed the car on purpose?” “Maybe, who knows”.
